Frequently Asked Questions
BTD Kit – Borka Torque Drive- Adjustable from 10-70 inch-lbs. The BTD Kit is a versatile, user-adjustable torque tool solution designed for those who work with a wide range of firearms and optical scope setups. While it carries a higher upfront cost compared to our PTL Kits, the BTD excels in adaptability and long-term value. Its universal design allows the user to set individual multiple torque values, making it ideal for professional gunsmiths, custom firearm builders, armorers, and shooting enthusiasts.
To achieve maximum torque accuracy and consistency, the BTD Kit requires the user to follow specific adjustment procedures. This capability makes the BTD an exceptional all-in-one solution for those who demand flexibility across multiple platforms and torque settings.
PTL Kit – Precision Torque Limiter- Precision-Specific & Purpose-Built The PTL Kit is a precision-designed torque tool system, pre-set at the factory to a specific torque value. It is non-adjustable, making it the ideal tool for controlled environments such as:
· Military and law enforcement armorer operations
· Gunsmithing shops and custom rifle builders
· Precision maintenance kits for high-value rifles
· Limited production and prototype testing settings
Because each PTL is optimized for a specific torque setting, it offers simplicity and repeatable performance without the need for calibration.
Cost-Effectiveness: BTD vs. PTL When evaluating the BTD and PTL kits from a cost-efficiency perspective, the advantage of the BTD Kit becomes clear for users who require more than three specific torque settings. Because the BTD is fully adjustable, a single kit can cover multiple torque values—making it a more economical solution over time.
This is why Borka® Tools offers its off-the-shelf PTL Kits in single or dual-unit configurations, while still providing customers the flexibility to add additional PTLs as needed. This modular approach ensures you get exactly what you need—whether you're building a dedicated maintenance kit or scaling up for broader applications.
When it comes to tightening torque for scope rings, scope mounts, and rifle action screws, it's important to follow the specific torque values recommended by the manufacturers of your optics, mounts, and firearms. These companies have tested their components extensively and provide torque specifications to ensure proper fit, performance, and reliability.
At Borka® Tools, we fully respect the expertise and engineering of these manufacturers. For that reason, we do not issue our own torque recommendations, as they may differ from what your equipment manufacturer advises.
If you already know the recommended torque settings for your specific setup, we’d be happy to help you determine which Borka torque tool or kit is best suited for your needs. Feel free to reach out with your rifle and optic details—we’re here to help you get the most out of your system.
We’ll be happy to assist you to the best of our ability. However, before reaching out, please consult your firearm, scope ring, and mount manufacturers to determine the recommended torque specifications for your specific equipment.
Once you have that information, we can walk you through the available torque tools and help identify the best option based on your needs.
Please note: if you're unsure of what you want or don’t yet have specific requirements, we won’t be able to make that decision for you. The more precise and detailed you are about your setup and goals, the better we can guide you.
All Borka Tools adjustable torque drivers are proudly made in the United States. We take great pride and care in manufacturing, assembling, calibrating, and QA testing for each BTD.
However, PTLs (Preset Torque Limiters) are not currently manufactured by any U.S. companies, so ours are produced in Taiwan, following strict Borka Tools specifications to ensure consistent performance and quality. Each PTL includes a certificate of calibration.
Our kits include a combination of U.S.-made components as well as select imported parts from Taiwan and Germany, including some accessories and packaging materials.
While we strongly prefer to source everything domestically, certain specialized components are only available internationally. We remain committed to maintaining the highest quality standards across all our products.

Borka® Tools only uses top-quality screwdriver bits, which are supplied by one of the best screwdriver bits makers in the world. While traditionally having an extremely low failure rate, all the screwdriver bits from Borka® Tools are consumables. This is a common practice, for example, see "Exclusions" from Wiha (known tool maker from Germany); https://www.wihatools.com/no-hassle-guarantee. In line with this practice, Borka bits are not covered by warranty for damage or loss by the user. FYI, you can always purchase replacement bits. 1" long bit is only $0.70, however, shipping by USPS First Class Mail is $4.50. There is nothing we can do to ship it at a lesser cost. So, purchasing a replacement bit will cost $5.20.
Borka® Tools are the premier choice for demanding users who need precision-engineered, portable, and rugged tools in the field. Trusted by competitive shooters, military professionals, armorers, hunters, cyclists, and tool enthusiasts around the world. Borka® Tools deliver uncompromising performance wherever you go. When used properly, your Borka Tools kit will offer years—and potentially a lifetime—of professional-grade shop tool performance in a compact, field-ready format.
We stand behind the quality and craftsmanship of our tools. Borka® Tools hand tools are warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for forty-eight (48) months from the date of purchase. Our torque tools carry a twenty-four (24) month warranty under the same terms.

Please note that hex bits are considered consumable components and are excluded from this warranty, as they are subject to normal wear during use. Always operate within specified torque limits to ensure optimal performance and safety.
