The Borka® Tools Story

The Beginning

Boris was pursuing one of his hobbies—refining and modifying his rifles for hunting and precision shooting. Around 2007, he identified a persistent need in the shooting world: the ability to consistently and accurately apply torque to firearm fasteners. Precision torque is essential to achieving consistent firearm performance, and the tools available at the time were either prohibitively expensive or inadequately built for serious use.

Boris and his wife Kay established the Borka Tools name from combining their names together BOR (Boris) + KA (Kay), a true American family small business was born out of passion and hard work!

As a mechanical engineer with a background in design and production technology—and access to machining equipment—Boris decided to take matters into my own hands. He set out to build a torque tool that met his high standards.

The Breakthrough

Drawing on the well-established moment of force (torque) principle, Boris designed a compact break-over torque driver, known for its simplicity and mechanical reliability. Unlike traditional break-over wrenches that offer only a single preset torque setting, he wanted a tool that could handle a broader range.

The result was the MTD (Multi Torque Driver)—a patented, multi-setting break-over tool that initially featured 12 of the most popular torque values, with potential to scale to 72 settings. Its follow-up, the ATD, expanded on this design and generated growing interest within the firearms and tactical communities.

By 2014, MTD and ATD were officially patented, and in 2015, Borka® became a registered trademark. As the business naturally shifted toward tool innovation and manufacturing, the company was rebranded as Borka Tools to reflect his overall focus.

Innovation & Craftsmanship

In 2019, Borka Tools introduced the BTD (Borka® Torque Driver)—a refined, modern successor to our earlier models. The BTD delivers torque settings from 10 to 70 inch-lbs in precise 1 inch-lb increments, activated by a unique push-button mechanism for smooth, reliable, and repeatable operation.

To cover torque needs outside that range, we also offered a curated selection of Precision Torque Limiters (PTLs) that would meet our expectations for quality and durability.

While all Borka® adjustable torque drivers are made in the USA, some accessories and components—such as PTLs and select packaging—are sourced from trusted partners in Taiwan and Germany. It has always been our preference to manufacture everything domestically, but quality, functionality, and price have always been important factors too.

A New Chapter with Pro-Shot Products

Borka® Tools has proudly collaborated with Pro-Shot® Products since 2015, with Pro-Shot® manufacturing our ECR (Emergency Cleaning Rod)—a relationship built on mutual trust, shared values, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.

In June of 2025, Boris started his much deserved retirement and the company Borka Tools was acquired by Pro-Shot Products a respected American company known for its excellence in manufacturing and exceptional customer service.

With this acquisition, Pro-Shot now fully operates the Borka® Tools brand, and is carrying forward the design, production, and support of our torque drivers and kit systems.

We are proud of everything Borka Tools has accomplished, and we’re excited to see the brand continue to grow and innovate under Pro-Shot’s leadership—remaining true to the standards of precision, reliability, and performance that have defined Borka® Tools from the very beginning.
